Why You Should Visit French Rivera Instead of Amalfi Coast
South of France aka Côte d’Azur, or French Rivera is a stunning stretch of coastline located in the southeastern corner of France, along the Mediterranean Sea. This glamorous region is synonymous with luxury, beauty, and a vibrant blend of cultures, making it a prime destination for travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure. The region enjoys a Mediterranean climate with warm summers and mild winters, making it an attractive year-round destination. For European Summer, visit French Riviera instead of Amalfi Coast. Here’s why:
1. Exclusive
South of France is a “quiet luxury” destination that brings exclusivity and chic vibes. Quiet luxury encompasses elegance, fun, sophistication, and exclusivity. South of France is a “IYKYK” destinations Just like Amalfi coast, South of France is lined with small towns perched between mountains and the sea. South of France borders Atlantic Ocean, Spain, the Mediterranean sea and Italy. However, South of France has not been trodded down with as many summer travelers as Amalfi coast. The Amalfi coast has become a popular tourist attraction, removing the exclusive vibes. For the same visual appeal but more ritzy and private, visit South of France.
2. Diverse Destinations
Just like Amalfi Coast, South of France has many towns and even countries close by to visit. Some towns include Nice, Eze, Marseille, Saint Tropez, Cannes, Monaco, and many others. I stayed in Nice and traveled to other parts of French Rivera on my week long vacation in South of France. Each of these towns have unique charm to them. For example, Nice and Eze has amazing food while Antibes has a dreamy beach. Cannes is known for its top tier restaurants while Monaco is known for its luxury stores. Spend a day or two in each destination to experience French Rivera and its magical energy.
3. Luxury
As stated, South of France encompasses luxury, elegance, and sophistication. Monaco and Cannes are great luxury destinations ideal for glamour and luxury. Cannes is known for world-renowned Cannes Film Festival and is the center for arts and film. Monaco is known for its royal car collections and casinos. Rent a luxury car and take a drive around Grand Prix race track. Monaco has the best luxury shopping with stores such as Bottega, Cartier, Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent, and many others. Bring your credit card and splurge.
4. Accessible
Unlike Amalfi Coast, South of France and French Rivera is accessible via transportation. The Nice airport is a great place to land and there’s shuttles from airport to take you to various towns within South of France. The cost and travel time is reasonable. There are trains that run from Nice to Monaco as well as Ubers/private transportation for reasonable cost as well.
5. Multi-Purpose
There are not many destinations that can be applied as either Baecation, Girl’s trip, or Solo trip. For example, I do not recommend Miami as a baecation or solo trip but I recommend El Salvador as a baecation or solo trip. Amalfi Coast is good for baecation or girl’s trip but I would not recommend for a solo trip due to the lack of transportation and long distance between towns. I would recommend French Rivera as a baecation, girl’s trip, or solo trip because there’s a variety of activities and towns close by. Nice, Eze, and Antibes are great for culture and solo exploring. Marseille, St. Tropez, and Cannes are great for girl’s trip and St. Tropez, Cannes, and Monaco are great baecation towns.
Looking for a quiet luxury trip, book a trip to South of France and explore the different towns and destinations. Choose French Rivera instead of Amalfi coast for luxury, access to multiple destinations, exclusivity, and a magical experience. What’s some activities we should do once we are there?
