Why You Should Go to NYFW without Access Ticket

New York Fashion Week (NYFW) stands as one of the most influential events in the global fashion calendar. Held twice annually, it showcases the latest collections from top designers and emerging talent alike. NYFW serves as a crucial platform for trends, setting the tone for the upcoming seasons across both the runway and retail sectors. Fall NYFW tends to bring the energy, excitement, drama, and of course fashion. This year NYFW is September 10-16, 2025.

As a fashion stylist, I’ve been apart of NYFW for many years and seasons. I was media personnel, stylist, photographer, and brand ambassador for many shows. My first NYFW experience, I did not have a ticket but I still went. Here’s why you should go to NYFW even if you don’t have a ticket:

Lots of other shows

Even if you do not have a ticket to an actual NYFW show, there’s lots of other shows and access to those shows. Smaller designer and even bigger brands typically showcase new collection around NYFW. For example, Harlem Fashion Week usually has shows around same time as NYFW. Many celebrities such as June Ambrose and Dapper Dan attend Harlem Fashion show. I love Harlem Fashion Show because it represents Black fashion designers and highlights those Black designers.

This year, Harlem fashion show is on September 13, 2025. Check out their Instagram for more details.

Lots of events

Many fashion and beauty brands team up for panels, events, and fun mixers. The energy of fashion, beauty, and NYFW is among these events. Many stores in SoHo have fashion events and parties as well. For example, two years ago, I went to College Fashionista’s Creators event sponsored by Kate Spade. There were panel discussions, beauty bar, and even a wellness space. We got to try the new Kate Spade collection, some new beauty treats, and of course photo ops. Prada also had an installation for their new perfume collection. We got the new perfume for free, drinks, and photo ops.

This year Fashionista’s Creators event is during NYFW. They have yet to put out a date but visit their website for updates.

Networking

Networking is essential for building your NYFW brand and contacts. Going to the other fashion shows and brand events allow you to network with other people in the industry or interested in the fashion industry. Networking also helps with events you can’t find online. By networking, I was able to go to some exclusive brand events such as HighsNobiety event in SoHo.

NYFW is a fun, energetic, and fashionable time. If you do not have access to the actual runway shows, don’t worry. Go to the other events, and shows and network with industry people. But how can you get into the actual runway or presentation shows. Stay tuned.
